What you need

Piano, guitar, drums, singing or bass, with more as our teaching team grows.
You do not need any experience
If you have never touched an instrument, you are in the right place. Beginners are who we love teaching most, and every lesson here can start from zero.
- You do not need to read music. Most beginners play by ear and by feel first. Reading comes gently, later, once you are enjoying yourself.
- You do not need your own instrument. Play ours at your first lesson, then we will help you choose when you are ready.
- You do not need to be young. We teach children from around 5 through to adults and seniors. Little ones aged 3 to 5 begin in Mini Musos.
- You do not need natural talent. Steady, friendly practice beats raw talent every time, and a good teacher keeps the path clear.
Choosing your first instrument
There is no wrong place to begin. Piano and guitar are the most popular first instruments because the early wins come quickly, but the best choice is usually the sound you cannot stop thinking about.
Choosing for a child? Our short guide walks through age, attention span, size and budget, so you can decide with confidence.
What happens in your first lesson
Your trial lesson is relaxed and friendly, designed to take the nerves out of starting. Here is roughly how it goes.
- A warm welcome. No test and no audition. Your teacher starts with a quick chat about the music you love and what you would like to play.
- Hands on straight away. You will actually make sound in the first lesson, not just watch and listen. Real notes, real music, from the very start.
- One simple next step. You leave with a single, clear thing to practise at home, so you always know exactly what to do next.
Start with a trial lesson, no obligation to enrol
The hardest part of learning an instrument is simply starting, so we make that part easy. Book a trial lesson, with no commitment. Meet your teacher, try the instrument, and see how it feels in your hands. If it is not the right fit, there is no obligation to continue.

Starting from scratch, your questions answered
I have never played an instrument. Can I really start from scratch?
Yes, and that is exactly where beginners start. Lessons are one-on-one or in small groups and paced entirely to you, so there is no prior knowledge assumed and nothing to catch up on. Your teacher meets you at the very beginning and builds from there.
Am I too old to start learning music?
No. We teach children from around age 5 through to teens, adults and seniors, and adults often progress faster than they expect because they practise with purpose. It is genuinely never too late to begin, and your lessons are private and pressure free.
Do I need to read music before I start?
Not at all. You do not need to read a single note to begin. Most beginners make music in their first lesson by ear and by feel, and reading is introduced gently later, once you are enjoying the instrument and ready for it.
Do I need to own an instrument before my first lesson?
No. Come to your trial and play ours first. Once you know you enjoy it, we are happy to advise on a sensible starter instrument, or on whether to hire before you buy, so you do not spend money before you are sure.
Which instrument is best for a complete beginner?
There is no single right answer, though piano and guitar are popular first choices because early progress comes quickly. The best instrument is usually the one whose sound you love. If you are choosing for a child, our first-instrument guide walks through age, size and budget.
